THIS WEEK’S KEY SUMMARY

During the week of June 23–30, the floor mat and carpet industry reached three important milestones: the post–Prime Day review period, Amazon’s strengthened enforcement of country-of-origin compliance requirements, and the approaching deadline for the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).

International energy markets remained volatile at relatively low levels. Following the signing of a ceasefire memorandum between the United States, Israel and Iran, the expected recovery of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continued to weigh on oil prices. WTI crude oil remained at approximately USD 76–79 per barrel, while Brent crude oil stayed at around USD 79–82 per barrel. Oil prices declined significantly from their May highs, gradually easing cost pressure on upstream chemical materials used in the floor mat industry.

In China’s chemical raw-material market, polypropylene futures traded mainly between RMB 7,600 and 7,750 per metric ton, while PVC futures remained between RMB 4,580 and 4,700 per metric ton. Spot polyester staple fiber prices were approximately RMB 7,500–7,650 per metric ton, East China spot butadiene prices were around RMB 9,800–10,200 per metric ton, and SBS/SEBS markets continued to consolidate at relatively weak levels.

Overall production costs improved compared with the previous period for products such as PP floor mats, PVC floor mats, TPR-backed mats, rubber entrance mats and polyester floor mats.

Weekly Risk Level: Medium to High — Cost conditions have improved significantly, but compliance and inventory pressures are rising.
